L&#8217;objectiu final \u00e9s determinar noves dianes moleculars i contribuir a desenvolupar estrat\u00e8gies terap\u00e8utiques i de prevenci\u00f3. La seua incid\u00e8ncia augmenta r\u00e0pidament a tot el m\u00f3n convertint-se en un problema prioritari per a la salut p\u00fablica. La DMG \u00e9s molt m\u00e9s que l&#8217;aparici\u00f3 de hiperglucemia en la mare de manera transit\u00f2ria durant l&#8217;embar\u00e0s. Predisposa a la mare i a la descend\u00e8ncia, tant masculina com femenina, a un major risc de desenvolupar diabetis de tipus 2 i obesitat en el futur. Per aix\u00f2, la comprensi\u00f3 dels mecanismes subjacents a la DMG contribuir\u00e0 a contindre l&#8217;actual epid\u00e8mia de diabesidad. Utilitzant models d&#8217;experimentaci\u00f3 in vivo i in vitro, busquem comprendre les bases moleculars de la DMG, amb especial \u00e8mfasi en l&#8217;obesitat com a factor de risc, i identificar les vies de senyalitzaci\u00f3 alterades que condueixen al desenvolupament d&#8217;aquesta malaltia. Els DEs, presents de manera ubiqua, poden trobar-se en una gran varietat de productes de consum, com a materials d&#8217;envasament d&#8217;aliments, productes de cura personal i de la llar, additius pl\u00e0stics i retardants de flama. Entre ells, s&#8217;ha demostrat que un subconjunt que rep el nom de disruptors qu\u00edmics metab\u00f2lics, pot augmentar la incid\u00e8ncia de trastorns metab\u00f2lics, com la diabetis, l&#8217;obesitat i la s\u00edndrome metab\u00f2lica, entre altres. Estudiem com l&#8217;exposici\u00f3 a aquests compostos pot afectar els processos moleculars i cel\u00b7lulars del p\u00e0ncrees endocr\u00ed. A m\u00e9s, treballem per a desenvolupar nous i efica\u00e7os m\u00e8todes per a identificar disruptors amb efectes diabetog\u00e8nics, obesog\u00e8nics o diabesog\u00e8nics. It predisposes the mother and the offspring, both male and female, for increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes and obesity in the future. Thus, understanding the mechanisms underlying GDM will contribute to contain existing worldwide diabesity epidemic. Using in vivo and in vitro models we aim to understand the molecular basis of GDM, with particular emphasis on obesity as risk factor, and identify altered signaling pathways leading to the development of this disease. EDCs are ubiquitous and can be found in a variety of consumer products such as food packaging materials, personal care and household products, plastic additives, and flame retardants. Among them, a subset called metabolism-disrupting chemicals (MDCs) has been largely acknowledged to increase the incidence of metabolic disorders including diabetes, obesity and metabolic syndrome, among others. We study how exposure to MDCs may affect the molecular and cellular processes of the endocrine pancreas. In addition, we work to develop new and effective methods to identify EDCs with diabetogenic, obesogenic or diabesogenic effects.
